City of Chicago Multiple Dwelling Registration is No More
This fall, the City of Chicago passed an ordinance to repeal the Multiple Dwelling Registration provisions pursuant to Chapter 13-10 of the City Code. The City Department of Buildings sent out a notice indicating that the old requirement for owners of buildings four or more units register their building annually with an informational filing and a small fee has been discontinued.
The City indicated on its website that “As part of our larger effort to streamline processes and requirements at the Chicago Department of Buildings, as of September 6, 2017, building registrations for Multiple Dwellings are no longer required. With new technologies available, there are other means and methods for collecting ownership information.”
